Won Park

For more than two decades, Won Park has represented a range of clients from large institutions to individuals. Won counsels clients in a wide variety of matters and disputes, focusing on professional liability claims, labor and employment issues, and business disputes.

Won’s professional liability practice focuses on representing attorneys, real estate brokers, escrow officers, and insurance brokers. Won's legal malpractice cases have arisen out of disputes over partnership, business, and real property matters, as well as marital dissolutions, health care, international law, and trusts and estates. He has handled State Bar disciplinary hearings, federal contempt hearings, fee disputes, and audits.

Won's substantial work outside the professional liability arena centers on complex civil litigation, including labor and employment matters, business and commercial disputes, and insurance and bad faith litigation, from inception through appeal. Won’s business litigation experience includes:

  • Defense of homeowner sued for breach of contract and negligence for alleged failure to disclose defects to home purchaser. Trial in the Los Angeles Superior Court resulted in defense verdict for the client.

  • On behalf of national mortgage lender, obtained agreement by another party to defend a client in a suit for breach of contract and quiet title resulting in the client recovering all legal expenses.

  • Defense of non-California medium-sized website developer against breach of contract and negligence suit. Developed strategy to remove the case from the Los Angeles Superior Court to federal court and seek transfer which resulted in a favorable settlement on behalf of the client.

Won’s management-side labor and employment matters include:

  • drafting employee handbooks

  • risk management

  • representing clients against NLRB charges

  • defending wage and hour claims

  • defending small to mid-size business clients against sexual harassment and discrimination claims

Won was also successful appellate counsel in two published decisions—Rojas v. Sup. Ct. (Coffin), 33 Cal. 4th 407 (2004) and Baroco West, Inc. v. Scottsdale Ins. Co., 110 Cal. App. 4th 96 (2003).

Won regularly speaks and presents to professionals and clients in his areas of expertise, including legal ethics and risk management, and employment issues.

He is actively involved in charitable organizations and is an avid sports fan. Won is also an amateur vintner who produces his own wine, Cabernet Sauvignwon.
